Power State's Energy Future is Bright

Nigerlites are buzzing with excitement, eager for sustainable energy development to transform every corner of the state. Under the visionary leadership of Farmer Governor Umaru Bago and Honorable Commissioner Power and Renewable Energy Suleiman Umar, the Electrification Agencies, Stakeholders, investors, Business Developers and Banks, both local and international are flipping in the switch on a brighter tomorrow, illuminating rural communities and powering a new era of growth and prosperity.

This momentum is also being driven by the Rural Electrification Fund (REF), headed by Executive Director Engr. Honourable Doris Uboh. REF is a game-changer in promoting cost-effective renewable energy access in rural and peri-urban areas of Niger State. As mandated by the Electricity Act 2023, REF provides grant subsidies and technical assistance to improve socio-economic and environmental conditions.

REF's Impact in Niger State

The REF is already making waves in Niger State, with projects like:

- Lambata Community 990KW+ Mini Grid: Bringing electricity to over 1,000 households and MSMEs

- Kuso Yaba Community of Agaie LGA 50kwp: Powering 370+ connections, including households, PHCs, and PUEs

- Barkuta Community of Bosso LGA 30kwp: Benefiting 250+ households, PHCs, and PUEs

- Kurmin Sarki Community of Suleja LGA 50kwp Mini-grid: Ongoing project, soon to energize rural homes and businesses

Transforming Key Sectors

The REF is supporting the Niger State Government's ambitious agenda to energize critical sectors, including:

1. Primary Healthcare: uninterrupted electricity to 3,700 PHCs, powering medical equipment and vaccine refrigeration

2. Education: reliable electricity in rural schools, digital tools, and e-learning

3. Agro Energy: solar-powered cold storage and water pumps

4. Community Power: solar-powered mini-grids for households and MSMEs

5. Transportation: solar-powered electric tricycles and charging stations

A Brighter Future Ahead

With REF's support, Niger State is poised to unlock its economic potential, improve living standards, and create jobs. As the state harnesses its renewable energy resources, the future looks bright for Nigerlites.
