Hon. Suleiman Umar Hails Training of 3,000 Youths in Clean Energy
The Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Niger State, Hon. Suleiman Umar, has hailed the launch of a new programme by TranESS C&I and the Al-Ansar Foundation to train 3,000 Nigerian youths in energy storage and clean energy technology over the next three years.
The initiative was unveiled at TranESS C&I’s Education Industry Summit in Abuja with the theme “Empowering Education, Illuminating the Future”. It will run across five regional training hubs and will also include specialized courses, with top students selected for advanced training abroad.
Reacting to the development, Hon. Suleiman Umar said he is delighted that young Nigerians will be given such opportunity to acquire skills in the renewable energy sector.
“I am happy to see that 3,000 of our youths will be trained in energy storage and clean energy. This is the kind of investment in human capital that Nigeria needs right now,” Hon. Suleiman Umar said.
He expressed optimism that Niger State will also benefit from similar opportunities soon.
“We are optimistic that Niger State will have such opportunities in the near future. This will elevate our youths and position them to be able to secure and take advantage of this welcome development,” Hon. Suleiman Umar stated.
The Commissioner reiterated his long-standing position on youth empowerment through renewable clean energy. For him, training is key to ensuring Nigerians are not just users of renewable technology, but also the technicians, installers and entrepreneurs who drive the sector.
“Renewable energy is about people. If we train our youths today, we will have the manpower to build, install and maintain clean energy systems in our communities. That is sustainable development,” Hon. Suleiman Umar explained.
“We welcome partners who will work with us to train our youths and create jobs in renewable energy right here in Niger State,” Hon. Suleiman Umar added.
