THE NEW NIGER IS BRIGHT: FARMER GOVERNOR UMARU BAGO LIGHTS UP IBETO AFTER 15 YEARS

For 15 years, the people of Ibeto lived in darkness. A power project that should have changed their lives was abandoned by the last administration.

Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago refused to let that story continue.

The abandoned project was part of NIPP — the National Integrated Power Project, the Federal Government’s flagship initiative to close Nigeria’s electricity gap, being driven by NDPHC. The moment the New Niger Agenda took off, the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, led by Honourable Suleiman Umar, revisited Ibeto and got to work.

Today, that work is done.  

The Ibeto power project is completed. After 15 years without power, light has finally returned to homes, markets, schools and health centers across Ibeto communities.

This is the New Niger Agenda in motion — promises kept, not postponed.

And we’re not stopping there. In other areas where insecurity slowed progress, work is already ongoing and will be completed soon. No community will be left behind.

Farmer Governor Umaru Bago came with one clear mission: to light up Niger State. From reviving abandoned projects, to expanding power and renewable energy across the state, every step is about giving our people the energy they need to farm, trade, study and thrive.

This is more than electricity. It’s dignity restored. It’s businesses reopening. It’s hope renewed.


The New Niger is bright. The New Niger is working.
