#StrongerTogether: Building The New Niger With Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago
The people of Niger State have seen the difference. From Borgu to Wushishi, Agaie to Suleja, Kontagora to Bida, Shiroro to Lapai, development is reaching every community.
In one term, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has turned promises into projects, and projects into impact across all 25 Local Government Areas. The foundation has been laid. Now is the time to build on it and finish strong.
Agriculture: Feeding Niger, Feeding Nigeria》》The “Farmer Governor” tag is not just a name. It is a movement.
Through massive mechanization, input support, and the Green Economy Initiative, thousands of farmers in every LGA now have access to tractors, fertilizers, and improved seedlings. The 1 Million Hectare Land Preparation Project is opening new farms in Shiroro, Lavun, Kontagora, and beyond. Food production is up, youth are going back to the farm, and Niger is positioning itself as Nigeria’s food basket.
Infrastructure: Connecting Every Corner》》Roads that were abandoned for years are now motorable. The dualization of the Minna-Bida road, the reconstruction of rural roads in Rafi, Mashegu, and Bosso, and urban renewal in Minna, Bida, Suleja, and Kontagora are linking markets to people. Bridges, township roads, and drainages are changing the face of our cities and villages.
Health: Care Closer To The People》》Primary Healthcare Centres are being renovated and equipped across all 25 LGAs. The recruitment of health workers and provision of drugs means a mother in Magama can get care without traveling 3 hours. The Niger State Health Insurance Scheme is also expanding to cover more families.
Education: Investing In Our Future》》Thousands of classrooms are being built and rehabilitated across primary and secondary schools in all 25 LGAs. Teachers are being trained, retrained, and recruited to improve learning outcomes. Technical schools and skills acquisition centers are being revived and equipped so our youth can learn trades that create jobs and drive the economy of the New Niger.
Security, Water, And Youth Empowerment》》The Farmer Governor’s investment in security operations and community policing is bringing back peace to farming communities. Water projects and solar-powered boreholes are bringing clean water to villages in Gurara, Paikoro, and Edati. Youth and women are being empowered through grants, skills acquisition, and entrepreneurship programs in every LGA.
Power And Renewable Energy: Lighting Up The New Niger》》Under the leadership of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, solar mini-grids, streetlights, and rural electrification projects are reaching communities that were in darkness for decades. Partnerships with REA and international partners are ensuring that power drives businesses, schools, and hospitals across the state.
Recognition That Speaks Volumes》》This is why Daily Times Nigeria just named Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago "Governor of the Year 2026" at its Centenary Heroes Award in Abuja. A recognition by national stakeholders, the SGF, fellow governors, and leaders across Nigeria that Niger State is working again.
The Record Is Clear. The Results Are In Every LGA.
Farmer Governor Bago has shown that with vision, discipline, and love for the people, government can work.
For continuity. For more jobs. For more roads. For more food. For a New Niger that works for all.
